During his work as paediatrician drWillem was involved in diabetes care. For several years he organized a competition for young people with diabetes to send in a poem or essay about diabetes. This resulted in a collection of several hundreds of poems and essays.

All poems and essays are personal statements about living with diabetes as a young person. They are all worth reading and therefore the collection is still available.
