The site DRWILLEM is on the WWW since 1997 and was first solely dedicated to information about Child Health focussing on hospital paediatrics, the subject of the profession of its webmaster as consultant paediatrician. Various general paediatric subjects were displayed with a dedicated chapter to diabetes care, drWillem's special interest.
There was also a chapter about ethics in which drWillem has a personal interest from already before medical school. Since the late nineties drWillem also became involved in teaching medical ethics and the pages on this site served as information for the students.
Until then the site was entirely in Dutch but changed to English after drWillem's move to Scotland in 2001. All additions since then have been in English.

This site was one of the first in the world dedicated to paediatrics and has maintained a worldwide audience ever since.

DrWillem's retirement from paediatric practice (July 2017) was a moment for complete overhaul of the site. Since then the information is displayed for viewing on tablet or smartphone. It now only contains information about ethics (with only one link to poems). The previous pages are no longer available as they are no longer updated and also as there are now many dedicated sites to paediatric subjects.
