who is

The person behind this site is dr Willem van IJperen. He was a fully registered medical professional (GMC 2814148), specialised in paediatrics, the health care for children and young persons. His experience as a hospital consultant includes duties for acute, ambulatory, chronic and community paediatrics. He was involved in teaching for medical students.

Dr Willem is also a medical ethicist and as such teaching to medical students.

His career in health care started in 1973 as a nursing assistent in a acute psychiatric ward followed by medical school. DrWillem started in paediatric specialist training in 1983 and since 1988 has been a consultant. DrWillem retired from active medical practice in July 2017.

DrWillem's interest in philosophy, especially ethics, dates from before 1973. He is also interested in politics, especially voting rights for young persons.

Outside his profession and this website there still is time for gardening and classical guitar music, both active and passive. Since retirement he has developed skills as a luthier.
